Eli and Mari-lyn Schrock

Eli and Mari-lyn Schrock's families are solid supporters of Fairhaven Baptist College. Both Mari-lyn's brother and sister have attended here, and Eli was the fourth of nine Schrocks to come. Eli received his degree in Missions in 1997, was in our first Master's graduating class in 1998, and was the first to go through our church's missionary internship program. Mari-lyn came in 1997 and graduated in math and music in 2001. They were married in August 2001 and Christopher, their son, was born in May 2003.

Eli and Mari-lyn have just returned from a wonderful opportunity of service in Siem Riep, Cambodia, where they were able to help John Kenderdine and his family for the last year. They were able to learn about the Cambodian people, learn the Khmer language, and begin to adjust to the culture, all while helping build the Victory Baptist Church. They both directed a bus (truck) route, held the children's services, taught English, and went soulwinning regularly. Mari-lyn played the piano for all the services and Eli eventually was able to preach about a dozen times in the Khmer language.

Now the Schrocks are on deputation to return to Cambodia. They would like to continue the ministry they had with the Kenderdines and continue learning the language until the Kenderdines return for furlough. Then they'll lead the Victory Baptist Church during the Kenderdines' furlough; and when the Kenderdines return, Eli and Mari-lyn envision starting a new work in northern Cambodia.

Eli is thankful for the many years of experience he had working with Todd Wright in the bus ministry while in college and also appreciates the structure, discipline, and emphasis on personal godliness that was taught them while here.

John Kenderdine, with whom they worked for the last year, is especially thankful for the help they were to his ministry. He feels their surrender and determination were two keys to their successful ministry there.

Please pray for the Schrocks as they prepare to return to Cambodia. They can be reached to set up meetings at eschrock@fairhavenbaptist.org, (219) 512-2089, or by contacting Fairhaven Baptist Church.
