Grads Around the World

  • Dave Bottrell
  • 10/12/2010
  • Dave Bottrell graduated from Fairhaven Baptist College in 1992; and after serving for over a decade as an assistant to Pastor Randy Starr in Brogue, Pennsylvania, Dave felt impressed to start a church north of Baltimore, Maryland. In 2005, with his pastor’s blessing, support, and direction, Hunt Valley Baptist Church was established. Dave and his small flock quickly renovated a storefront office building, converting it into an attractive auditorium with a warm foyer. The church began to grow as the truths of the Great Commission of Matthew 28 were preached and practiced. Within a couple years, it became apparent that a larger facility was needed. In 2009, God allowed Hunt Valley to exercise their faith and purchase an existing church complex on three acres, which included a 350-seat auditorium, nine classrooms, a parsonage, and a 40’ x 50’ gym. This “miracle” building came to reality after a year of definite prayer on the part of the men, women, and children of Hunt Valley Baptist. Operating on the principle that, “If we do what we can, God will do the rest,” God proved himself to the membership of Hunt Valley. In order to make a good first impression for the opening day last April, much of the church facilities were renovated and refreshed by the men of the church and volunteer help from other churches. Pastor Bottrell said, “In just six short weeks, new stone work, pavement, landscaping, a steeple, and audio/video systems were installed. A bookstore and infant and toddler nurseries were also added. Renovation of the foyer, fellowship hall, upper level restrooms, and the auditorium were also completed.” On April 26, 2009, Hunt Valley had their opening service with over 500 in attendance. Continue to pray for the graduates of Fairhaven Baptist College as they seek to “have faith in God” during these exciting days.
  • Eric and Rosanna Ramos
  • 7/22/2010
  • Eric Ramos was reached through the bus ministry of Fairhaven Baptist Church. First, his older sister and brother, along with his mom, began riding to church. In time, Eric’s parents placed him and his siblings in Fairhaven Baptist Academy. As a senior in high school, he surrendered his life to God. In 1994, after years of prayer, his father accepted Christ as Lord and Savior. Now he drives a church bus each Sunday morning to bring others to the Lord. In his twelve years on the staff of Fairhaven Baptist College, Eric has “worn several hats.” He teaches New Testament Survey and is a frequent speaker in the college chapel services. Students enjoy his enthusiasm as he coordinates their monthly activities. He also travels with the college ensemble and greets guests to our campus. In addition to his responsibilities at the college, he travels throughout the summer, keeping busy with Vacation Bible Schools, camps, retreats, and church revival services. As an evangelist, his overriding burden is to see young people abandon the ways of the world and commit their lives to the Lord. Rosanna is a missionary’s daughter, raised in Monterey, Mexico. She followed her older sister to Fairhaven Baptist College in 1995. After her graduation in 1999, she and Eric were married. Last year, Rosanna assumed the responsibility of the college ladies’ dormitory supervisor. Her desire is to help the college ladies grow into mature servants of the Lord, ready to do whatever He desires of them. In addition, she works in the business office and assists with the outreach of teaching English to Spanish-speaking people, a ministry that has produced some real blessings through the years. The daughter of one of the families that Rosanna taught in this ministry recently graduated from Fairhaven Baptist Academy and is enrolled at Fairhaven Baptist College for the upcoming fall semester. The Ramos’ have three children: Gideon, Titus, and Marissa. They are happy to have served the Lord together for the past twelve years at Fairhaven Baptist Church and College, and they look forward to many more years of fruitful service.
  • Bill and Pam Smith
  • 7/15/2009
  • The Lord had been dealing with Bill Smith for about six months prior to his conversion, and at midnight, on July 4, 1977, as he was sitting at a traffic light, alone in his car, the Lord greatly convicted Bill of his need for salvation and he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior. Shortly after this, he acknowledged God's call on his life and surrendered to serve Him.
  • Archie and Larissa Parrish
  • 3/15/2009
  • Archie Parrish grew up in a Christian home in Missouri. At the age of six Archie's parents took him to a week-long revival meeting at his church. As he listened to the preaching, he knew as a young boy that he was a dirty sinner, headed for hell. He knew he needed to be clean but was inadequate to clean himself. At the invitation, the youth pastor took Archie and dealt with him concerning salvation. He turned to Christ and asked the Lord to save his soul and forgive him of his sins.
  • Chris Steig
  • 10/15/2008
  • While in high school, he visited several Baptist colleges. Chris's visit to Fairhaven impressed him because of its serious students and their desire to serve God. It was around that time that God called him into the ministry. Like many, Chris struggled with God's call, but eventually he submitted to God's leadership in his life.
  • Joel and Tina Dunbar
  • 7/15/2008
  • Joel and Tina Dunbar both graduated from Fairhaven Baptist College in the spring of 2003. Joel was born and raised in a Christian family. At the age of six, he accepted the Lord as his Savior after watching a Christian film at church. His father, Pastor David Dunbar, led Joel to the Lord that evening. Joel first heard of Fairhaven through the Larry Ingalls family, whose daughter Heather had come to Fairhaven and spoken highly of the college. Joel knew he needed a place where he could mature, learn responsibility, and develop the character to finish what he started.
  • Steve and Rebekah Boots
  • 3/15/2008
  • For Steve Boots, being born and raised in a Christian home and attending Fairhaven Baptist Church was a special privilege God gave him. Steve was born in 1983 and was saved at the tender age of five in his kindergarten Sunday School class. Although his testimony is simple, Steve is thankful that God was merciful and spared him from the snares of a wicked life.
  • Jason and Aimee Atwood
  • 10/15/2007
  • "Find God's will and do it!" These are the words that resonate in Jason Atwood's heart and mind as he remembers his years of instruction at Fairhaven Baptist College. These are also the words that he heard growing up at Beeville Baptist Church in Texas.
  • Dave and Lisa Olson
  • 7/15/2007
  • Dave Olson is a missionary to the needy country of Zambia, Africa. He and his wife, Lisa, along with their three young children (Sarah, Deborah, and John) are content to be serving the Lord with their lives. They arrived in Zambia in 2002 and have been actively overseeing several churches since that time.
  • Ruth Ann Larkly
  • 3/15/2007
  • Growing up, Ruth Ann never became too settled in one place. Because her father was in the Army, she lived in several different states in the U.S., as well as spending time overseas in Germany. Prior to her graduation from high school, Ruth Ann and her family moved to Arizona, where her father had chosen to retire. Beginning in 1996, Ruth Ann would travel to and from southern Arizona to attend Fairhaven Baptist College.
